Course Overview

German B2 Overview
At the B2 level, you’ll focus on:

Fluency: Speaking with fewer mistakes, sounding more natural.

Advanced Vocabulary: Broadening your range of words and phrases for complex topics.

Complex Grammar: Mastering conditional sentences, the subjunctive mood, passive voice, and indirect speech.

Cultural Understanding: Gaining insights into German-speaking cultures while using the language in practical contexts (e.g., workplace, travel, social).

What You Can Do at B2 Level:
Speaking: Discuss a wide range of topics (e.g., politics, society, technology) clearly and in detail.

Listening: Understand main ideas and specific details in fast-paced audio on complex subjects.

Reading: Read longer, more detailed texts (e.g., articles, novels, or academic papers) and understand their meaning.

Writing: Write essays, reports, and emails with detailed arguments, correct grammar, and a varied vocabulary.

Phase 1: Strengthening Core Skills (B1 to B2 Transition)
Week 1–2: Mastering Complex Sentence Structures
Topics: Advanced word order, relative clauses, conjunctions (weil, obwohl, wenn, etc.).

Grammar Focus: Subordinate clauses, indirect speech, and conjunctions.

Key Vocabulary: Connectors, linking words (zuerst, danach, außerdem, jedoch).

Resources:

Textbook: "Aspekte neu B2" (for in-depth grammar and vocabulary).

App: Babbel or Duolingo for complex sentence structures.

Practice:

Write long-form sentences using relative clauses: Der Mann, der im Park spazieren geht, ist mein Nachbar.

Week 3–4: Expanding Vocabulary for Opinions and Arguments
Topics: Expressing opinions, agreeing/disagreeing, making suggestions, giving advice.

Grammar Focus: Use of Konjunktiv II (Subjunctive) for hypotheticals.

Key Vocabulary: Phrases for expressing agreement, disagreement, and opinion (Ich bin der Meinung, dass..., Meiner Ansicht nach...).
